Opera Mariposa is committed to breaking down barriers that can impede access to the arts. This means we prioritize improving the accessibility of our spaces, content, and communications.

You can find access information for our projects on each event page and in our marketing materials, including on social media. To improve financial accessibility, our programming is either free, low-cost, or sliding-scale.

We commit to doing our best to share information transparently, prioritize informed consent, and centre the most impacted.

We recognize that accessibility is a continuum, and we can always do better. As such, we regard this page and our policies are imperfect, ongoing works in progress.

Website accessibility

Opera Mariposa’s website is built to provide markup for screen reader accessibility following WCAG 2.0 standards, including keyboard navigation, aria labels and focus control. You can learn more about recently-added accessibility updates here.

All images on the Opera Mariposa website include alt text. We are in the process of adding image descriptions to key images throughout. We also include content warnings where needed, as part of our commitment to informed consent.
