Your Risk is Cumulative

“Your risk of developing Long Covid is cumulative with each Covid infection.” This message hits close to home for the members of Berlin Buyers Club, who know what it’s like to have their lives shattered by Long Covid. Through their artistic activism, they spotlight how critical it is to not only break the chains of transmission, but to invest in research, treatments, preventatives, and a cure.

Here in Canada, Long Covid is skyrocketing: at least 1 in 9 Canadians have developed it so far, with rates rising from 14.6% after one infection, to 25.4% after two infections, to 37.9% after three or more infections. Worse still, the majority of people with Long Covid have not recovered – as Berlin Buyers Club says, “Sometimes Long Covid is Forever Covid.”

Berlin Buyers Club is an international grassroots art-activist collective that was founded in March 2023. They are a small group of skilled creatives doing what they can under very constrained circumstances after COVID-19 made them chronically ill — for some of them, dramatically altering the trajectory of their lives. They spend their limited energy on seeking awareness, treatments, and justice for Long Covid, ME/CFS, and other complex neuro-immune diseases.
